Anambra Community Parades Woman Allegedly Involved in Death of 15-Year-Old Boy

Residents of Igboukwu, a community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, were left shocked after an elderly woman was paraded almost naked on allegations of killing a 15-year-old boy. The incident, captured in a now-viral video, shows the woman being led through the streets by indigenes, who cursed her for her alleged crime.

The video, widely shared on social media, depicts the woman wearing a palm front weaved around her neck — a symbolic gesture in Igbo culture signaling sacrilege. A male voice in the video narrates that the woman tied up the young boy, which led to his death. According to the narrator, the woman was apprehended when she was caught attempting to retrieve sand from the boy’s grave, allegedly to perform rituals aimed at exonerating herself.

As the video circulated, there were no immediate reports on what actions were taken against the woman after the parade. The Anambra State Police, when contacted, denied receiving any formal report about the incident. Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said that he would investigate the matter further to confirm whether the video was recent or old content being spread by detractors.

Locals in Igboukwu, when approached for comments, stated they were unaware of the incident. Further details surrounding the alleged crime remain unclear, as authorities continue to gather information on the case.
