Anambra 2025: “All Parties Must Pay N50m to Campaign” — Soludo Govt

Candidates contesting in the 2025 Anambra governorship election will each pay a campaign fee of N50 million before being permitted to advertise or promote their campaigns across the state. The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) during a press briefing in Awka.

According to the agency, the mandatory payment grants candidates the right to mount billboards, paste posters, and carry out other campaign-related activities such as parading branded vehicles, distributing flyers, and hosting rallies. The fee applies to all 16 political parties fielding candidates, including the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Speaking to journalists, ANSAA Managing Director and CEO, Tony Ujubuonu, emphasized that the payment is a statutory requirement and not targeted at any political party. He said the N50 million fee is payable to the Anambra State government account and is aimed at regulating campaign advertising to ensure orderliness and prevent visual pollution.

“This permit is to ensure professional standards in public advertising,” Ujubuonu said. “It creates a level playing field for all candidates and allows them to engage in campaign activities across cities, villages, and communities in the 21 local government areas of the state.”

He added that ANSAA was established by law in 2010 to oversee and control outdoor advertising and related structures in the state.

Campaign activities officially began on Wednesday in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has scheduled the governorship election for November 8, 2025.
