Alleged ₦150m Land Fraud: Police Arrest Four for Impersonating Nyesom Wike
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja have arrested four men over an alleged land fraud scheme involving more than ₦150 million.
Police say the suspects posed as associates of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to deceive victims seeking land allocations.
The principal suspect, Yashim Kajang, was apprehended on March 24 in Kurudu. According to investigators, he allegedly targeted a retired military officer, Major General A. K. Ibrahim (rtd), along with other individuals, promising to secure plots in Guzape II Cadastral Zone.
Kajang is accused of claiming connections to senior officials within the Federal Capital Territory Administration, including the Minister and the Director of Lands. Police allege he collected large sums of money under the pretense of processing documentation for Plot 1985 and other properties.
During interrogation, Kajang reportedly identified three accomplices. Investigators say the individuals include officials within the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the FCTA, who allegedly provided insider land information used to facilitate the scheme.
All four suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
