“All of us in LP including Alex Otti have agreed to support Tinubu” — Arabambi
Abayomi Arabambi, the South-West National Vice Chairman of the Labour Party, has said the party’s leadership has agreed to support Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an interview on News Central on Thursday, Arabambi stated that the decision was reached in principle among key figures within the party, including Abia State Governor Alex Otti and the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure.
According to him, the move aligns with a broader political understanding that the presidency should remain in the South-West for a full eight-year cycle.
Arabambi also dismissed suggestions that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, could return to the Labour Party. He said internal agreements and ongoing disputes within the party make such a comeback unlikely.
He further criticised Nenadi Usman, accusing her of promoting Obi’s return despite what he described as limited prospects for the former Anambra State governor within a coalition-backed platform such as the African Democratic Congress.
Arabambi maintained that the party’s current position is firm and urged those advocating for Obi’s return to reconsider their stance.
