Air Force Personnel Vandalise IKEDC Office, Assault Staff, Steal Vehicles Over Electricity Disconnection
Personnel from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) allegedly invaded the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) office on Thursday, vandalizing property, assaulting workers, and stealing company assets after power was disconnected at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Ikeja, Lagos.
Confirming the incident, IKEDC spokesperson Kingsley Okotie said the military personnel stormed the office in retaliation for the disconnection, despite the base owing over N4 billion in unpaid electricity bills.
“They came and invaded our offices. As I speak, I have a fractured leg. They molested and assaulted our staff, took 16 of our vehicles, and forced our drivers to move them,” Okotie said. He added that the attackers destroyed offices, stole laptops and phones, and dismantled IT infrastructure, including CCTV cameras.
Okotie also revealed that the intruders searched for IKEDC’s Chief Executive Officer, Folake Soetan, who had to take cover to avoid being apprehended.
