AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo Assumes Duty as New Zonal Police Chief, Zone 13
AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo has officially assumed duty as the 8th substantive Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State. His appointment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, following the recent retirement of the former AIG.
According to a statement released by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ihunwo Josephine K. (ANIPR), AIG Oladipo resumed duty on March 18, 2025, and is now responsible for overseeing police operations in Anambra and Enugu States under the Zone 13 Command.
A seasoned law enforcement officer, scholar, and international peacekeeper, AIG Oladipo brings over three decades of extensive experience and leadership to his new role. Born on April 24, 1966, in Lagos Island, Lagos State, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), a Master’s degree from the University of Lagos, and an LLB (Hons) from the National Open University of Nigeria.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has served in various strategic positions across Nigeria, including Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Lagos and Abia States, Operations Commander for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, where he conducted one of the most peaceful elections in the state’s history.
Internationally, AIG Oladipo has represented Nigeria in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Kosovo, Sudan, and Darfur, gaining recognition for his versatility and professionalism in managing complex security situations.
He has completed several professional development courses, including the Advanced Detective Course, Intermediate Command Course, and Senior Command Course. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), and the Institute of Transportation and Management Technology.
Described as a disciplined and principled officer with zero tolerance for corruption, AIG Oladipo is committed to fostering community trust, enhancing public safety, and upholding international standards of policing. Outside of his professional life, he is a devoted family man and a sports enthusiast with interests in badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, and fitness walking.
The Zone 13 Command, under AIG Oladipo’s leadership, is calling for the continued support and cooperation of stakeholders, sister security agencies, media professionals, and residents of Anambra and Enugu States to ensure effective policing and security delivery across the region.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring that all operations within the Zone will be carried out in line with international best practices and respect for human rights.
