Agidigbo FM Owner Oriyomi Hamzat Hospitalised as 35 Children Die, Queen Naomi Arrested After Ibadan Stampede
Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM, has been hospitalised following the tragic death of 35 children in a stampede at a children’s Christmas party in Ibadan. The event, held at Islamic High School in Bashorun, turned disastrous on Wednesday, leaving six others critically injured.
The party, organised by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, had been heavily promoted by Agidigbo FM in the days leading up to the tragedy. The Oyo State Police, in a statement by SP Osifeso Adewale, confirmed the arrest of Queen Naomi and seven others in connection with the ill-fated event.
Sources revealed that Mr. Hamzat was present at the scene and was deeply affected by the chaos. Overwhelmed by the sight of children collapsing during the stampede, he required immediate medical attention and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
An insider close to the situation shared, “He was truly at the event. But when the stampede started and children were collapsing, he could not withstand that ugly scene. So he also fell and is currently at the hospital.”
