Again, Terrorists Bomb Newly Repaired Power Line, Plunge Maiduguri Into Darkness
Maiduguri has once again been thrown into darkness after Boko Haram insurgents bombed the recently restored Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line. The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, just three weeks after the power line was repaired by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on September 4, 2024.
Local sources report that the attackers used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to destroy the infrastructure around 2 a.m., causing widespread power outages in Maiduguri and surrounding areas. This latest attack follows a series of similar assaults on the region’s critical power supply by the terrorist group.
The TCN has yet to release an official statement on the incident at the time of this report. Residents are once again facing significant challenges as the city grapples with the loss of electricity.
