Afe Babalola Petitions LPDC, Seeks Disbarment of Dele Farotimi
The Afe Babalola law firm in Ibadan has formally submitted a petition to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC), calling for the disbarment of prominent lawyer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi. The petition accuses Farotimi of breaching multiple provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Nigerian lawyers.
A lawyer from the firm, speaking on condition of anonymity, emphasized that the move is not a personal attack but a necessary step to uphold the integrity of the legal profession. “This petition is about preserving the integrity of our legal system. If such behavior goes unchecked, it undermines the trust the public places in us as legal practitioners,” the source explained.
The lawyer further stated, “Upholding the highest ethical standards is a responsibility, not an option. The allegations against Farotimi do not only reflect on him but on the entire legal profession. We cannot remain silent while the judiciary’s reputation is jeopardized.”
