ADC Chair Reveals When Coalition Talks Will Be Concluded

Ralph Nwosu, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced that coalition discussions among opposition leaders aimed at forming a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be concluded within the next two weeks.

Nwosu made the remarks during an interview with Arise TV, where he confirmed that the ADC has been actively engaging with civil society organisations and citizens’ groups over the past 16 months as part of a broader political strategy to address the country’s challenges. He noted that the process extends beyond political alliances and includes grassroots mobilisation.

According to Nwosu, key party figures, including Dr. Bamidele Jamilu Jade and Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, have been tasked with leading consultations with political stakeholders. He disclosed that they have held meetings with several prominent figures, including former presidential aspirants from the 2023 elections such as Rotimi Amaechi.

He added that discussions have also taken place with nearly all political parties and leaders who contested the last election, indicating that the talks are reaching an advanced stage. Nwosu emphasized that the ADC is committed to meaningful political reform and not interested in serving as a temporary platform for politicians seeking convenience.

“Any politician who thinks ADC is a ‘molue’—a multipurpose vehicle for reaching their political destination—must think again,” he said. “That mindset has weakened our democratic system. Parties must not be the weakest link if we hope to produce leaders who can bring true transformation.”

Nwosu reiterated that the ADC remains firm in its principles and will not allow itself to be used and discarded once power ambitions are achieved.
