Access Bank Reacts to Reports of Helicopter Crash Amidst Fears of CEO Herbert Wigwe’s Death
Access Bank Plc has issued a statement in response to reports surrounding the alleged death of its Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Herbert Wigwe, in a helicopter crash.
Wigwe, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s banking sector, was reportedly accompanied by his wife, son, and former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, during the ill-fated helicopter journey.
The bank, through a statement posted on its official Twitter handle, X@myaccessbank, expressed awareness of the public concern regarding the crash and assured the public that they are actively collaborating with US authorities for updates.
“We have received numerous inquiries concerning an airplane crash in the USA. Presently, we lack specific information; however, we are actively collaborating with US authorities who will furnish updates,” the statement read.
Access Bank further conveyed gratitude for the understanding and support of the public, pledging to keep stakeholders promptly informed as updates on the situation unfold.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred as they were en route to Boulder City, Nevada, from Palm Springs, California, on Friday night. The helicopter crashed at approximately 10 pm near a small town in California’s Mojave Desert.
The news has sent shockwaves through the financial and business communities, with many anxiously awaiting further details about the situation.
