Abuja Traffic Official Killed by ‘One Chance’ Criminals

The Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has confirmed the tragic death of one of its personnel, Prisca Chikodi, who fell victim to “one chance” criminals in Abuja.

Kalu Emetu, the head of the service’s public relations and enlightenment section, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

The incident occurred on June 21 around 6:45 pm when Chikodi was dropped off at the Area 1 bus stop by her boss and subsequently boarded a vehicle heading to Gwagwalada.

“It turned out that the occupants of the vehicle were criminals, popularly called ‘one chance’ operators,” Emetu stated. Tragically, Chikodi did not survive the encounter to recount the events. Her body was discovered at 12:45 a.m. on June 22 at Shetima Mogonu Street, behind Berger, Utako.

“Her appearance in death did not show signs of being shot, stabbed, or strangulated but rather looked like someone in normal sleep,” Emetu added.

The Directorate, commonly referred to as VIO, is in deep mourning over the loss of Chikodi, who was described as a brilliant and obedient officer. She served as a personal assistant to the Deputy Director of Human Resources in the Directorate until her untimely death.
