Abuja Building Collapse: Hospitalized Victim Dies, Another Awaits Surgery
A tragic update has emerged from the recent building collapse in Kubwa, Abuja, as one of the four rescued victims has succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Another victim is in urgent need of surgery for a pelvic injury but is struggling to secure the necessary funds.
The incident occurred on Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki Road, where the building, initially constructed as a hotel, was later converted into a clinic and subsequently into a residential complex housing 45 self-contained rooms.
Most tenants managed to escape before the collapse around 6 a.m., following alarms raised about visible cracks in the structure. However, displaced residents, now camping in a nearby hotel, report that they were not permitted to retrieve their belongings, including important credentials, before the remaining parts of the building were demolished.
The tenants have accused their landlord of withholding rent refunds and avoiding contact since the incident. They are calling on authorities to step in and address their grievances.
