Abia Governor lifts ban on transport workers’ union
The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has lifted the ban placed on the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW.
The Governor had banned the union owing to what the authorities say was as a result of flagrant disregard for government’s directives for the union to harmonize its activities in the state.
Addressing a delegation of the NURTW led by the National President, Ibukunle Baruwa at the Government House Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu said he has accepted the Union’s apology describing the transport union as a very important sector and mainstay of Abia economy.
The National President of the Union, thanked the state government for lifting the ban and assured that the leadership will not tolerate any form of disloyalty to any Government.
