Abia Government Postpones President Tinubu’s Visit, Cites Reason, Announces New Date

President Bola Tinubu’s planned visit to Abia State on May 23 has been postponed to early June. The visit, which was to include the commissioning of the Port Harcourt Road in Aba and the flag-off of the Abia Medical City project, was rescheduled due to the President’s tight schedule, according to the State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu.

The Commissioner also announced that all staff of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, formerly Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, whose promotions were delayed since 2008, have now been promoted. The government has also commenced payment of their previously withheld salaries.

In education-related updates, Kanu revealed that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to several courses at Abia State University, Uturu. These include Law, Agriculture, Mass Communication, and Educational Management and Planning.
