Abaribe Commends Soldiers, Dismisses False Media Reports

Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has praised the professionalism of the Nigerian Army in their interactions with civilians.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Media Adviser, Uchenna Awom, Abaribe refuted social media reports claiming he had an altercation with soldiers at a checkpoint in Obingwa. Describing the reports as false and speculative, Abaribe found it laughable that soldiers allegedly “humbled and delayed” him while returning from a burial last Thursday. He stated that, in reality, the soldiers were courteous and professional in performing their duties.

“I was never accosted, delayed, or approached disrespectfully by the soldiers. My observation was that of a professional force carrying out their duties in a humane and respectful manner, despite the day’s events,” Abaribe said.

He criticized the report’s author, suggesting it was politically motivated and filled with lies. Abaribe reiterated his condemnation of the misleading narrative, emphasizing his respect for the soldiers’ conduct at the checkpoint.

“I salute the soldiers and reiterate my earlier statement condemning what happened last Thursday. The report is false and was authored to achieve a devious political goal,” he concluded.
