94-Year-Old Man Registers for 2025 UTME to Study Political Science at UI
A 94-year-old man, Adedapo Idowu, has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with the goal of studying Political Science at the University of Ibadan. His decision to pursue higher education at an advanced age highlights his determination to achieve a long-standing academic dream.
Idowu completed his registration at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professional Test Center in Ibadan, Oyo State. Expressing his excitement, he commended the seamless registration process and the efficiency of the system. The 2025 UTME registration, which began on January 31, has already seen over 700,000 candidates sign up, including 11,000 underage applicants, according to JAMB.
Despite initial concerns about pursuing a university degree at his age, Idowu said his worries faded after experiencing the smooth registration process. He praised JAMB’s technological advancements, particularly the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN), which streamlined data collection and ensured a hassle-free experience.
His story was featured in JAMB’s latest bulletin, where he expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received at the registration center. He noted that the professionalism of the staff made him feel valued and encouraged him to move forward with his academic journey.
Idowu also offered advice to other UTME candidates, urging them to approach their education with professionalism and contentment. He encouraged JAMB to maintain its commitment to inclusivity, ensuring access to education for all, particularly the elderly, the underprivileged, and individuals with disabilities. His decision to take the UTME at 94 serves as an inspiring testament to lifelong learning and perseverance.
