Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has declared that the prevailing insecurity within the state is undeniably targeted at a single political party, with the majority of victims being members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a resolute commitment to addressing this alarming situation, he has pledged to identify and bring the culprits responsible for these attacks to justice.
During a recent appearance on a Channels Television program, Governor Uzodimma voiced his determination to eradicate the root causes of insecurity in the state. He emphasized that he had already issued directives to law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts in apprehending those responsible for these acts of violence.
Governor Uzodimma stressed the urgency of discontinuing the manipulation of politics through heinous acts that result in the loss of innocent lives. He conveyed his belief that, in the coming weeks, the efforts currently being deployed by security agencies would shed light on the identities of those involved in the killings and insecurity in Imo State.
He said, “I have instructed the security agencies to provide me with the reasons behind these acts. It cannot be mere coincidence that a significant number of those targeted for violence are members of my party, the APC. A child cries in the night, and by daybreak, they lie lifeless. It is equally not coincidental that, recently, the residences of prominent APC members who participated in the last election have come under attack. Even certain traditional rulers who have shown sympathy for our party have seen their palaces targeted.”
In a stern plea to those responsible for the ongoing violence in Imo State, Governor Uzodimma urged them to cease their actions. He reiterated his stance that the insecurity within the state was politically motivated, and he called upon the perpetrators to halt their destructive activities.
He concluded, “I have consistently emphasized that the insecurity in Imo State is politically contrived, and those responsible for it are well aware of their involvement.” According to Governor Uzodimma, approximately 90 percent of the victims in the state are affiliated with the APC, further highlighting the targeted nature of the insecurity.
