In a tragic incident that has left the Uzairue community in Edo State shaken, five people, including two brothers and a woman, were found dead under suspicious circumstances in a single room. The victims were discovered on Saturday in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Family members reportedly made the disturbing discovery after the group, who had been inside the room overnight, failed to emerge in the morning. Concerned by their absence, relatives forced their way in, only to find the five individuals lifeless.

Preliminary reports indicate that two of the deceased were brothers, while the other three were close friends. Initial speculation points to potential causes such as generator fumes or food poisoning, though authorities stress that these are only preliminary assumptions.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The Auchi Area Commander and the Divisional Police Officer from Jattu Police Station have emphasized that no conclusions will be drawn until forensic and environmental analyses are complete.

Speaking on behalf of the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu confirmed the incident and assured the public of an ongoing investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths. “The command is aware. An investigation to unravel the cause of death is ongoing,” Yamu stated.
