33-Year-Old Woman Remanded for Alleged Stabbing Death of Husband

33-year-old Olajumoke Olalere has been ordered to be held at Agodi Correctional Facility after she allegedly stabbed her husband to death. The ruling came from the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi presided over the case, noting that the court lacked jurisdiction to accept Olalere’s plea. Magistrate Ogunkanmi ordered Olalere’s remand until the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) issues legal advice on the case. The court adjourned further proceedings until March 5, 2025.

The prosecutor, Corporal Akeem Akinloye, informed the court that the alleged incident occurred on October 30 at around 9:00 p.m. Akinloye explained that Olalere and her husband, Oluwasegun Tinubu, 39, were involved in a domestic dispute at their residence in Zone 5, Gbelu, Iyana–Agbala, Ibadan. During the altercation, Olalere allegedly stabbed her husband with a knife, leading to his death.

Akinloye stated that the offense contravenes Section 316 of the Criminal Code and is punishable under Section 319 of Oyo State’s Criminal Code Laws of 2000. The court will await further direction from the DPP before proceeding with the case.
