25 Passengers Burnt to Death in Kogi Auto Crash, Multiple Vehicles Involved in Tragic Accident
In a devastating road accident in Aloma, located in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, at least 25 people lost their lives. The tragic incident occurred yesterday morning when two buses and an articulated vehicle collided, leading to a massive fire that burned all occupants to death.
Eyewitnesses reported that the crash happened as a result of two vehicles attempting to navigate a pothole on the road. The collision involved a fully loaded Toyota Sienna bus, a Toyota Hiace bus, and an articulated vehicle. The impact caused an intense fire that quickly engulfed the vehicles.
One eyewitness, who was at the scene of the accident, mentioned that the accident took place in front of Aloma Teachers’ College. He noted that the fire spread rapidly, consuming everything in its path. “All the passengers in the Toyota bus, including the driver, were burnt to death. Those in the Sienna bus too were burnt, with no survivors. An articulated vehicle that was parked near the scene of the accident also caught fire and was burnt to ashes. A house close to the area was also destroyed by the raging inferno,” he said.
Due to the severity of the blaze, villagers were unable to provide assistance to the trapped passengers as they lacked firefighting equipment. At the time of reporting, it was unclear whether there were any survivors among the crash victims. Emergency response teams were on the scene to contain the fire and assess the situation.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Samuel Ayodeji, could not be reached for comment as he was attending a meeting with the command. The cause of the accident is under investigation, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
