25 ISWAP, Boko Haram Members Surrender as Troops Foil Attacks, Arrest Criminal Suspects Across Nigeria
Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded a series of successful operations across the country, including the surrender of no fewer than 25 members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), a Boko Haram faction, in Bama, Borno State. Military sources confirmed that the group, which included 12 adult females and 13 children from Zalmari, Gazuwa, and Alafa villages, surrendered on August 11, 2025, to troops of the 202 Battalion. The surrendered individuals are currently undergoing profiling by the 21 Special Armoured Brigade.
On the same day, troops of the 233 Battalion, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, ambushed terrorists along the Sassawa–Kaburu axis in Yobe State, killing one terrorist and recovering an AK-47 rifle. In Zamfara State, troops of the 1 Brigade Combat Team 5 repelled an attempted attack on the Forward Operating Base in Galadi, Shinkafi Local Government Area, neutralizing one terrorist and seizing a mobile phone.
The following day, acting on intelligence from a rescued kidnap victim, troops raided Gremasa Mountain in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, arresting eight suspected kidnappers. In Taraba State, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE Sector 3 apprehended two suspected kidnap collaborators, while in Plateau State, troops of Sector 4 Operation SAFE HAVEN arrested five suspected pipeline vandals.
On August 13, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade launched an offensive on an IPOB/ESN camp at Ndeji Community, a border area between Anambra, Abia, and Imo States. One suspect was neutralized, and security forces recovered a pistol with ammunition, cartridges, radios, improvised explosive device (IED) components, mobile phones, and other materials. Two planted IEDs were safely destroyed by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
