2027: Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Top Aide Resigns
Nasir Bala Aminu, widely known as Ja’oji, has stepped down from his role as Senior Special Assistant to Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership.
The resignation comes in response to a directive from the president requiring all political appointees intending to contest in the 2027 general elections to leave office by March 31, 2026. The order applies to ministers, special advisers, senior special assistants and other political office holders within the current administration.
In his resignation letter, Ja’oji thanked the president for the opportunity to serve, noting that his appointment reflected a broader effort to promote youth participation in governance. He said his selection into public office was driven by confidence in young Nigerians and their role in national development.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the administration and indicated willingness to serve the country in other capacities if required in the future.
Ja’oji praised the government’s Renewed Hope Initiative, describing it as central to policy direction and national development efforts. He expressed confidence that ongoing policies would deliver stronger outcomes with continuity beyond 2027.
While he did not formally declare his next political move, the resignation is widely interpreted as preparation for an electoral bid. Reports indicate he is considering a run for the Tarauni Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
