2026 Budget: FG Proposes N6.14bn for Tinubu’s Foreign Travel
The federal government has proposed a total of N6.14 billion for President Bola Tinubu’s foreign travels in the 2026 appropriation bill currently before the National Assembly.
Details of the budget proposal also show an allocation of N873.88 million for the president’s local travels, bringing his total travel and transport budget to N7.01 billion for the 2026 fiscal year.
For Vice-President Kashim Shettima, the bill provides N1.73 billion for travel and transport. This includes N417.48 million for local travel and N1.31 billion for international trips.
The allocations come against the backdrop of cost-cutting measures announced by the presidency in 2024, when Tinubu reduced the number of officials accompanying him on both local and foreign trips by 60 percent.
In the 2024 fiscal year, President Tinubu and Vice-President Shettima had planned a combined expenditure of about N8 billion on travel.
The N58.18 trillion 2026 federal budget was presented to the National Assembly on December 19, 2025, after it received approval from the Federal Executive Council.
