16-Year-Old Student Electrocuted While Fetching Water at Abuja School
In a heartbreaking incident at Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa/Maitama in Abuja, 16-year-old student Meshach Ogwuche Agaba was reportedly electrocuted while fetching water within the school premises last Wednesday at 7:30 am.
Agaba tragically stepped on an electric cable that caused a pole to trip inside the school vicinity. The immediate response saw him rushed to Maitama district hospital for urgent treatment. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Agaba succumbed to the injuries and passed away.
The deceased student had been attempting to fetch water in close proximity to a wall fortified with barbed wire on the school premises when the incident occurred.
Josephine Adeh, the FCT police spokesperson, confirmed that the investigation into the incident is currently ongoing. She assured the public that updates will be provided once the investigation is concluded.
“I can’t speak on matters under investigation, but when we conclude our investigation, we will communicate back,” stated Adeh.
