11 Killed in Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway Crash, Several Injured – FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 11 people died in a collision on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on Saturday evening.

FRSC Enugu State Sector Commander, Franklin Agbakoba, said the crash occurred around 6:46 p.m. near the Ozalla Unit Command on the expressway. The collision involved a commercial Toyota Coaster bus and an articulated Mercedes-Benz trailer.

Of the 36 people involved, 10 men and one woman were killed. Seven others—three men and four women—sustained injuries and were rushed to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla. The deceased were taken to UNTH morgue.

Mr. Agbakoba confirmed that FRSC teams have cleared the scene and restored normal traffic flow. Preliminary investigations indicate that Route Traffic Violation (RTV) and Loss of Control (LOC) may have contributed to the crash.

He praised the prompt response of FRSC officers and marshals at Ozalla for rescuing the injured and managing the scene. Further updates on the incident will be released as investigations continue.
