Youths Hijack, Loot Trailer Carrying Seyi Tinubu-Branded Food Items in Gombe
A trailer loaded with food palliatives branded with the name “Seyi Tinubu” was hijacked and looted by youths in Gombe State. The incident occurred at the Old Bauchi Motor Park, along the Gombe-Bauchi Road, where the truck was intercepted and its contents taken.
The looted items, meant for distribution during Ramadan’s Iftar, included small bags of rice, pasta, sugar, salt, and bottles of cooking oil. A viral video from the scene showed people scrambling for the food supplies.
The incident follows criticism from Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, son of the Bauchi State Governor, who questioned Seyi Tinubu’s approach to youth empowerment. He argued that while long-term empowerment programs were being implemented in the West, food handouts were being given in the North.
In a social media post, he urged for job creation, business support, ICT training, and other sustainable initiatives instead of temporary food aid. “Teach our youths how to fish rather than feed them for one day. They are not beggars,” he wrote.
