“You Don’t Have to Be Funny to Be a Successful Comedian in Nigeria” – Bae U Takes a Swipe at AY
Skit maker and content creator Bae U Barbie has sparked a wave of reactions with a bold comment aimed at comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY. While hosting AY on the latest episode of his show, Curiosity Made Me Ask, Bae U insinuated that success in comedy doesn’t necessarily depend on being funny.
Introducing AY, Bae U remarked, “Our guest today is a reminder that you don’t have to be funny to be a successful comedian in Nigeria,” a statement that has since gone viral and stirred mixed reactions online.
This comment comes after AY himself acknowledged in a past interview that he does not consider himself the funniest comedian in the country. Despite this, he has built a highly successful career in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
