“You Defend Yourself While Your People Are Being Killed” – Simon Ekpa Hits Back at Okonjo-Iweala

Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafran Republic, responded sharply to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Ekpa’s comments came after Okonjo-Iweala publicly disavowed an alleged claim that she supported him in securing a $57.5 billion loan from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) to establish a Biafran government.

Ekpa, based in Finland, took to his verified X account to express his frustration over what he perceives as Okonjo-Iweala’s selective engagement with critical issues. He noted, “While you were quick to disown the claim regarding the loan, you have remained silent about the killings of your people by the Nigerian government you served.”

Despite this, Ekpa denied ever making the controversial post, which purportedly included a thank you to Okonjo-Iweala for her alleged role in facilitating the loan. He emphasized, “It is surprising that you can tweet this because your name was mentioned. We have been tweeting about the Nigeria terrorism against your people, and you never responded nor showed any remorse.”

In further tweets, Ekpa criticized what he termed as “criminals” attempting to discredit him through manipulated images. He urged followers to stay focused, declaring that such propaganda would not deter the Biafran cause. He referred to previous attempts to mislead the public, citing a similar incident involving the Prime Minister of Finland.

Earlier, Okonjo-Iweala had labeled Ekpa’s claims as “outrageous and false,” urging anyone misusing her name to cease immediately. Her statements came after Ekpa claimed, “The World Bank and IMF have agreed to loan the sum of $57.5 billion to the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) to form our government after December 2nd, 2024 declaration of Biafra.”
