US President, Donald Trump has mocked former Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg after he exited the presidential race following his disappointing performance at the Democratic Party’s Super Tuesday contest.
Trump, in a Tweet on Wednesday hours after Bloomberg announced he is ending his campaign, said the billionaire had learnt the hard way that he cannot buy the election with his money.
“Pandering Mini Mike Bloomberg, along with his wacky friend, Tom Steyer, have found out the hard way that you can’t buy the election! They both wish they had it to do over again!” he tweeted.
The billionaire spent whopping $234m on television and digital ads to propel his campaign and quickly built a staff of more than 2,400 people by offering top dollar to a range of political operatives.
“I’ve always believed that defeating Donald Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it. After yesterday’s vote, it is clear that candidate is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden,” Bloomberg wrote in a press release.
