Yoruba Women Seem to Be the Most Cultured in Nigeria – Solomon Buchi
Writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi has sparked discussion online with his recent remarks praising Yoruba women for their blend of modern success and traditional values. In a social media post, Buchi described Yoruba women as the most cultured in Nigeria, citing their consistent ability to pursue education and career success while upholding conservative family principles.
“My personal observation: Yoruba women seem to be the most cultured women in Nigeria — their ability to be educated, successful and still hold conservative family values is consistent,” he wrote. “There’s something beautiful about a woman never outgrowing conservative roles in marriage, and still upholding femininity.”
He also noted the perceived contrast in his observation, adding, “It’s quite ironic because I also consider the Yoruba tribe to be the most progressive tribe in Nigeria.”
His comments have ignited debate on social media, drawing reactions from across the country on the role of culture, gender, and progress in modern Nigeria.
