Yahaya Bello’s Number Unreachable Since Being Declared Wanted, Says Ortom

Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State, has disclosed that attempts to contact Yahaya Bello, the ex-governor of Kogi State, have been unsuccessful since he was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bello is under investigation for alleged misappropriation of N80.2 billion during his tenure as Kogi governor.

Ortom shared this during a thanksgiving service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Makurdi to mark his 63rd birthday. He remarked, “I have tried to get him on the phone; I could not. I tried those around him, but I could not.”

Ortom’s advice to Bello was clear: to stop hiding and cooperate with the anti-graft agency. “Let me use this opportunity to advise my younger brother and friend, former governor Yahaya Bello, not to disgrace former governors. If you are called to come and account for your stewardship by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, go there,” he stated.

The EFCC’s investigation into Bello’s activities has garnered national attention. Ortom’s revelation that Bello’s number has been unreachable adds to the growing scrutiny surrounding the former Kogi governor’s whereabouts and cooperation with the authorities. As the investigation continues, the call for accountability from public figures remains strong.
