World Cup 2026 to Feature First-Ever Halftime Show, Led by Coldplay’s Chris Martin
FIFA has announced a historic addition to the 2026 World Cup final by introducing a halftime show, following the model of the Super Bowl. Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Phil Harvey have been recruited to curate the lineup for the first-ever halftime performance at the world’s biggest sporting event.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the plans during a press event in Dallas, stating that the halftime show will take place in partnership with Global Citizen at the final in New York New Jersey. He described it as a “historic moment” that will deliver a spectacle worthy of the tournament’s global stature.
The move mirrors the NFL’s collaboration with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for the Super Bowl, with Martin and Harvey expected to help select performers for the July 19, 2026, final. However, it is not yet confirmed whether Coldplay will take the stage themselves.
While soccer halftime breaks are typically around 15 minutes, FIFA may extend the intermission to accommodate a larger-scale production similar to the Super Bowl. With Coldplay’s reputation for dynamic live shows, excitement is already building for what promises to be a landmark moment in World Cup history.
