Woman Strangles Co-Wife to Death, Burns Body in Matrimonial Home
The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged murder of 20-year-old Hajara Isa by her co-wife, Fatima Mohammed, in their matrimonial home on February 28, 2025. The case came to light on March 3, 2025, when Sale Isa of Anguwan Sarakuna, Bauchi, reported the suspicious death to the police.
Preliminary findings suggest that Fatima Mohammed, 28, may have been responsible for the killing. Acting on the directive of Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad, detectives from the C Division Police Headquarters launched an investigation, leading to Fatima’s arrest.
According to a statement from the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakili, the suspect allegedly confessed to strangling Hajara Isa. In an attempt to conceal the crime, she reportedly poured boiling water on the victim before setting the body on fire using a melted Bagco sack.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry. Investigators may conduct forensic tests and exhume the body as part of efforts to uncover the full details of the crime.
Commissioner Auwal Musa Muhammad assured the public that the police would ensure a thorough and professional investigation, emphasizing that justice would be served.
