Woman Remanded in Ekiti for Attempting to Cut Off Boyfriend’s Manhood

A Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 20-year-old woman, Joy Ikoja, for allegedly attempting to cut off her boyfriend’s manhood. The Ekiti State Police Command arraigned Ikoja on charges of unlawfully inflicting injury on her partner, Ibrahim Usman, by tearing his scrotal sac.

Inspector Adeboye Adesegun, the prosecutor, told the court that the incident occurred on April 12 at about 8:00 p.m. in the Irona area of Ado-Ekiti. He added that Ikoja also conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace. The charges against her are punishable under Sections 186, 255, 256(a), and 181(d) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

Barrister David Ogbede, counsel to the defendant, pleaded with the court to grant her bail, stating that she was presumed innocent and would not flee. However, the prosecutor objected, expressing concern that the defendant could abscond, especially as she was previously linked to a separate case under a different name which had been struck out.

Magistrate Olatomiwa Daramola denied the bail request and ordered that Ikoja be remanded at the correctional facility in Ado-Ekiti. The case was adjourned until April 22 for further hearing.
