Woman Dies Shortly After Checking into Hotel with Unknown Man; Manager Arrested
Police in Lagos have detained the manager of a hotel located in the Dopemu area following the death of a woman who reportedly arrived at the establishment with an unidentified man.
The incident was confirmed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday. According to Hundeyin, the Dopemu Police Division received a report from the hotel manager around 10:10 PM on Friday regarding the situation.
The hotel manager disclosed that at approximately 9:30 PM, a man entered the hotel with a woman seeking a brief respite. However, he failed to collect their identities. After about an hour, the woman allegedly rushed out of the room, expressing that she was feeling unwell. The manager reported that he provided her with cold water, but her condition did not improve.
She was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital on Dopemu Road, where she was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the man who accompanied her reportedly fled the scene.
In light of these events, the hotel manager has been detained to assist with the ongoing investigation. The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
