Wike Will Contest Against Tinubu in 2027 – Chief Iwuanyanwu
Chief Dan Iwuanyanwu, the national chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, has alleged that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), will run against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. This claim was made during a recent press conference addressing the political crisis in Rivers State.
Chief Iwuanyanwu warned against heeding Wike, accusing him of attempting to destabilize Rivers State and undermine Governor Fubara. He cautioned that Wike’s actions, if not checked, could jeopardize Nigeria’s nascent democracy. “If you don’t know, Mr. President, Wike will contest against you in 2027. He will run against you,” Iwuanyanwu stated emphatically.
According to Chief Iwuanyanwu, Wike plans to resign as FCT Minister by late 2025 or early 2026 to prepare for his presidential campaign. “Why do I say so? I have on record 26 speeches made by Wike which showed commitments. He failed in all of them. Your own, Tinubu, will be a ‘moimoi’ case, another regret he will tell Nigerians,” he said.
Chief Iwuanyanwu also urged Wike to concentrate on his duties in Abuja and allow Governor Fubara to perform his role without interference, stressing the importance of maintaining stability in Nigeria’s democracy.
