Wife and Daughter of Slain Kaduna Anglican Priest Released After More Than Two Months in Captivity
The wife and daughter of Venerable Edwin Achi, the Kaduna Anglican priest who was killed in October, have been released after over two months in captivity.
According to reports, Achi, his wife Sarah, and their daughter were abducted on October 28, 2025, from their home in Nissi, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N600 million, later reducing it to N200 million, and threatened to kill the victims if the ransom was not paid. Photos of the priest and his wife were circulated by the abductors as proof they were alive. The priest was later killed before the ransom deadline.
A family source, identified as Avril, confirmed on Friday, January 16, 2026, that Sarah Achi and her daughter were freed on Thursday night and are receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital.
Details surrounding their release, including whether any ransom was paid, remain unclear.
