Why Buhari is to Blame for Escalating Insecurity – Reno Omokri
Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has attributed the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria to the failure of the past administration under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari. Omokri argues that the Buhari government neglected to reapprehend terrorists who were unlawfully released during a notorious prison break.
Recalling the incident on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, during Buhari’s tenure, when a swarm of terrorists on motorcycles stormed Kuje prisons, reports indicated that over 600 out of 900 inmates were set free. According to Omokri, the subsequent failure to recapture these released terrorists has directly contributed to the escalating insecurity in the nation.
Omokri did not shy away from criticizing certain politicians who served in the previous administration, singling out Isa Pantami. He contended that those from the past regime lack moral authority to claim that Nigeria is experiencing more significant insecurity under President Tinubu than it did under ex-President Buhari.
Highlighting what he perceives as positive changes, Omokri stated, “Jailbreaks, airport invasions, and train bombings are now a thing of the past. Oil thefts have reduced, and our oil production has increased from what it was under Buhari to about 2 million barrels per day today.” He concluded by noting the absence of police station destruction in the Southeast since the end of Buhari’s tenure.
