“Who Are You? Keep Quiet!” — Minister of Works Dave Umahi and Arise TV Anchor Rufai Oseni Clash Live on Air
A heated exchange unfolded on Arise TV on Tuesday, October 7, between Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, and one of the station’s anchors, Rufai Oseni.
The confrontation occurred during a live interview focused on the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. Tensions rose when Umahi accused Oseni of previously making “disrespectful” remarks about his inability to provide details on the project’s cost per kilometre.
Umahi described it as “nonsensical” for Oseni to question him about the cost per kilometre of the road, saying he found such inquiries inappropriate.
Oseni responded by alleging that the minister had reported him to President Bola Tinubu over his previous questions about the project.
Visibly irritated, Umahi replied, “You are too small for me to report you to the President. Who are you? For me to report you to Mr President?”
Oseni maintained his stance, saying, “I have empirical evidence at the commissioning of the project where you mentioned my questions to the President. That was you reporting me officially.”
The back-and-forth escalated, with the minister eventually telling Oseni to “keep quiet.”
