“When You Hear Epidural, Run” – Toyin Lawani Warns Expectant Mothers
Renowned fashion and beauty entrepreneur Toyin Lawani has issued a strong warning to expectant mothers about the potential long-term side effects of epidural anesthesia. In a recent video shared online, the mother of three recounted her struggles after receiving the injection, which is commonly administered during childbirth to numb pain.
Lawani revealed that since taking epidurals during the birth of her last two children, she has suffered from severe back pain and a degenerating spine. She expressed frustration that while doctors inform women about the immediate side effects, they often do not fully disclose the long-term consequences.
“When you hear epidural, run,” she cautioned. “Doctors tell you about the side effects, but they don’t tell you how it can affect your body years later. I’m just 42, and I have a degenerating spine. I have implants in my spine, I go paralyzed, I can’t stand for long, and sometimes I can’t even breathe properly because of how it has affected my body.”
The entrepreneur also noted that she is not alone in her struggles, revealing that three of her friends have experienced similar complications. She explained that while her first childbirth was a natural birth, she opted for epidurals for the last two deliveries—one of which was necessary due to surgery.
“The pain doesn’t stop,” she lamented. “My back is killing me, and my spine is degenerating.”
Lawani’s candid revelation has sparked discussions among mothers and medical professionals about the risks associated with epidurals, with many weighing the benefits of pain relief against the possibility of long-term health challenges.
