“When I Was a Pastor, I Was a Liar Who Thought He Was Telling the Truth” – Former Pastor Ejeagba Chidi Reflects on His Faith Journey

Ejeagba Chidi, a former pastor, has sparked conversation online after publicly reflecting on his time in ministry, admitting that he unknowingly spread what he now calls “falsehoods.” In a candid post, Chidi said he once believed wholeheartedly in the messages he preached, but has since come to see them as flawed.

“When I was a pastor, I was a liar who thought he was telling the truth,” he wrote. “I was sincere, but I was sincerely wrong.”

Chidi explained that his teachings were built on what he now describes as a “false foundation” and questioned how one could be truthful when the very basis of their beliefs is flawed. Despite his change in perspective, he expressed empathy toward those still within the faith, saying he understands what it’s like to believe deeply in something only to later question its validity.

“This is why I don’t judge those still trapped in religious dogma too harshly. I’ve been there,” he said. “But sincerity is not an excuse to remain stuck in falsehoods. We owe it to ourselves to question even our most cherished beliefs. Because the most dangerous lies are the ones told by those who genuinely think they are speaking the truth.”
