“We’re Going to Support Kamala Harris”: Putin Remarks on US Election
Russian President Vladimir Putin surprised many with a sarcastic comment during the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, declaring, “We’re going to support Kamala Harris,” in reference to the upcoming US presidential election. His remark follows accusations from Washington that Moscow is attempting to interfere with the election, further fueling the ongoing political tension between the two nations.
Putin made the statement with a wry smile, adding, “(US President Joe) Biden recommended all his supporters support Mrs. Harris. We’re going to do that too.” Known for his frequent commentary on US politics, Putin also praised Harris’s infectious laughter, saying it indicates “everything is fine with her.”
The statement comes in the wake of new US sanctions targeting Russian media figures for alleged election interference. Washington has repeatedly called on Putin to “stay out” of the American political process.
