The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has said that the Nigeria Police is yet to receive a formal request for the extradition of suspended DCP Abba Kyari
He made this known while briefing Journalists in Abuja.
The IGP however said the Nigeria Police has received feedback from the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, on his request for legal advice.
Usman Baba, also revealed that he has received the report of the panel set up to probe the bribery allegations against Kyari and his alleged relationship with Hushpuppi, who is also being detained in the US for fraud related issues.
You would recall that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had indicted DCP Kyari for allegedly collaborating with Hushpuppi to jail one of Hushpuppi’s associates, after a dispute over a $1.1 million scam.
DCP Kyari however denied the allegation, stating that he was clean.
While briefing the newsmen, the IGP said “I have read it from the social media that there was an extradition request. I have not seen it; I’ve not heard it formally.”
“We just received the legal advice from the office of the attorney-general and we’re working on what to do next.”
He further said “we will work on the legal advice by the AGF to ask Kyari to account for what we have found out”.
