‘We Want To Let The Poor Walk, Run, Not Just Breathe’ – Soludo
In a resounding declaration of his administration’s dedication to uplifting the underprivileged, Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has pledged to provide opportunities that enable the poor not just to survive but to thrive in the state. The Governor made this profound commitment during the graduation ceremony of the “One Youth, Two Skills Solution” program in Anambra.
“We Want To Let The Poor Walk, Run, Not Just Breathe,” asserted Soludo, highlighting the essence of his vision for the impoverished citizens of Anambra. He firmly emphasized, “Our target is not just to let the poor breathe; we want the poor to rise up to walk and run. The children of the poor must be given an opportunity.”
This sentiment echoes the sentiments expressed by President Bola Tinubu, who, months ago, articulated a similar aspiration during a visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, proclaiming, “Let the poor breathe; don’t suffocate them.”
Governor Soludo’s commitment is not mere rhetoric but a guiding principle for his administration. He underlined that the success of his tenure would be gauged by the well-being of the most vulnerable members of society and the overall progress of the state. He noted, “The difference between the children of the poor and the children of the rich is simply opportunity. We want to evaluate our success by the success of the weakest in the society.”
Furthermore, Soludo reaffirmed his resolve, saying, “We are determined to give the children of the poor the same opportunity that the children of the rich have by giving them the qualitative education that is available to the rich. That way, we build a ladder of opportunity for the future.”
During the graduation ceremony, Governor Soludo took a practical step towards fulfilling this commitment by distributing a grant of two million naira to 5,000 program graduates. He emphasized the pivotal role of young people as the bridge to a brighter future for Anambra State. This step not only offers financial support but also symbolizes the administration’s tangible dedication to empowering the youth.
Governor Charles Soludo’s vision and actions exemplify a genuine commitment to providing opportunities and hope for the less privileged, marking a promising era for Anambra State’s future.
