“We Shall Abhor Imposition and Special Privileges” – David Mark Vows to Reform ADC Bureaucracy

Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has pledged to end the imposition of candidates and reform the party’s internal bureaucracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja, Mark emphasized the ADC’s renewed commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and accountability. He assured party members that his leadership would uphold democratic values and resist any form of special privileges or favoritism.

“I assure you that under my leadership, we shall be committed to full democratic practices and principles that abhor imposition and special privileges. Internal democracy, transparency, and accountability will be our mantra,” Mark said.

His remarks appeared to respond to earlier concerns raised by Salihu Lukman, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had cautioned the ADC against the emergence of godfatherism and the imposition of loyalists. In a statement titled *‘ADC and the Prospect of Internal Democracy’*, Lukman warned that the party’s interim leadership must avoid repeating mistakes seen in other parties.

Addressing these concerns, Mark reiterated that fairness, inclusivity, and discipline would guide his stewardship. “We will be fair and just to all party members. We promise to be totally transparent. ADC will have zero tolerance for anti-party and other forms of indiscipline,” he said.
