“We Have Resolved Glitches, Re-check Your Results” – WAEC Tells Candidates
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has addressed concerns surrounding the recently released 2025 WASSCE results, confirming the discovery and resolution of technical glitches that affected some subjects.
In a statement issued by its Public Affairs Department on Thursday, WAEC acknowledged that results in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics were impacted by technical bugs. These issues came to light following complaints from candidates and stakeholders, prompting the Council to initiate a thorough internal review.
WAEC attributed the glitch to the implementation of a new innovation aimed at curbing examination malpractice—paper serialization—a method already in use by another national examination body. The Council emphasized that while the initiative aligns with global best practices in assessment, it inadvertently introduced technical errors in the result processing of the affected subjects.
As a result, access to the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates (SC) results was temporarily restricted on the result-checking portal. The Council has since corrected the errors and has advised all candidates who had previously checked their results to do so again after 24 hours.
WAEC extended a sincere apology to candidates and the public, thanking them for their patience and understanding. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, professionalism, and transparency in its examination processes, pledging to continue delivering quality service to all stakeholders.
