“We Don’t Need a Governor to Mobilize Support for Tinubu” — Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said political leaders in Rivers State do not require the backing of any governor to mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Wike made the remark on Saturday during the inauguration of the Port Harcourt office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a group aligned with the President’s agenda.
According to him, elected officials and party leaders at various levels in the state have the capacity to organize independently in support of the President.
“We are working for President Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilize us. We have what it takes to operate independently,” Wike said. “We have senators, Assembly members, local government chairmen, National Assembly members, and party chairmen from both APC and PDP.”
He stated that the gathering was a deliberate effort by local leaders to show commitment, rather than a move directed by any single political figure.
Wike added that the unity displayed at the event reflects a voluntary decision by political stakeholders in Rivers State to align themselves with the President’s leadership.
