Wailing as Body of Commissioner’s Aide, Killed in Abuja Highway Attack, Returns to Onitsha
On Sunday, the city of Onitsha was engulfed in mourning as the body of ABK Offiah, an aide to the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, was brought home. Offiah was tragically killed in a violent attack along the Abuja highway while traveling with the commissioner and his wife.
During the attack, gunmen ambushed the group, resulting in the fatal shooting of Offiah. Commissioner Aghamba and his wife were abducted but were later released by the kidnappers on Saturday night under undisclosed circumstances. It remains unclear whether a ransom was paid for their release.
Offiah, a respected lawyer from Onitsha who held the traditional title of Kpajiego, was also recognized as a prominent youth leader in the community. A video circulating on social media captured the heart-wrenching moment when an ambulance arrived in Onitsha with his remains, sparking an outpouring of grief from residents.
