VIDEO: Speed Darlington Under Probe by Lagos DSVA, NAPTIP Over Alleged Defilement of 15-Year-Old

Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington is now under probe by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) following a viral Instagram Live video in which he appeared to admit to defiling a 15-year-old girl.

In the video, delivered in Igbo, Speed Darlington recounted an incident he claimed took place about ten years ago at a hotel, where he allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old virgin. He described how the sheets were bloodstained and said he paid N2,000 to hotel staff to replace them. He added, “Before they could come change the sheets for me, I had to give N2,000. Because the thing is somehow, to tell an adult to come and clean blood that I brought out of the body of a 15-year-old girl. I can never work for anybody, lai lai. I only work for myself.”

The disturbing clip triggered swift reactions from both the Lagos DSVA and NAPTIP. In a post on its official X handle, the DSVA confirmed it was aware of the video and described it as “disturbing.” While noting that the entertainer did not specify the location of the incident, thereby limiting its jurisdiction, the agency stated that it had escalated the case to NAPTIP for further action.

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency is aware of the disturbing video currently circulating online, in which a popular entertainer allegedly admits to engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor,” the statement read. “While the individual in question did not specify the location of the incident during the Instagram Live session, we must clarify that the DSVA’s jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State.

In view of the above, and in line with our commitment to justice, we have escalated the situation to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.”

NAPTIP also responded to the video on X, writing, “This is not a skit right? If not, we are sure #Lagosdsva will look into this to the very end.” The DSVA replied, “We are in this together o!” indicating a joint probe is now underway. The agencies have urged members of the public with any relevant information to come forward to support ongoing investigations.

This is not the first time Speed Darlington has been linked to allegations involving minors. In 2022, he filmed a confrontation with neighbors who accused him of getting too close to a 16-year-old girl. In the video, he walked around his apartment holding a knife, while one of the women outside accused him of attempting to message the girl and labeled him a “rapist.”

In 2023, he again sparked criticism when he stated on Instagram Live that he was seeking a girlfriend aged between 16 and 20. He said, “I’m looking for a girlfriend number two, 16 to 20 years old. Anyways all these announcements are a waste. I just need to do what I did before; which is go do a show and spend a week in the village after the show, find somebody to bring her to Lagos.”
